And whether it’s instagram, twitter, or facebook; there are a lot of opportunities to connect with a wider audience, build a following, and connect with other photographers. In this post we’ll explore a few tips for making the most out of your social media posts
1. Choose your posts wisely
Your goal here is to reach a large audience and build a following, so you want to be sure to post photographs, blog posts, etc. that really show off your talent and personality. Along those same lines, you’ll want to post regularly, but you don’t want to fill your followers news feeds with your posts. Try scheduling a time for yourself when you’ll post every day/two days/week, or however often you decide to post. Posting content at a time of day when people are likely to see it is also something to be aware of and to work into that schedule.
2. Tags are your friends
Hashtags and location tags can be a great way to get more traffic to your social media accounts. By tagging the location where a photograph was taken, you can get views from users that are looking for photos of that location. Similarly, by using a hashtag that describes the subject of your photograph, other users will see your post when searching for photos with the same subject matter. In all, tags are a great way to reach out to people who might not otherwise ever see your work.
3. Don't keep your posts to yourself
To really reach out to new people, you’re social media accounts for your wedding photography business need to be public. If you don’t already have accounts for your business, make new ones and set them to Public. This will allow anyone to be able to see and share your content, and allow you to keep those posts completely professional and separate from your personal accounts.
4. Use social networks for networking

You can connect with other photographers, wedding planners, vendors, venues; pretty much anyone you’ll be working with will have some sort of social media account. Use this to your advantage and build relationships that can help bring you more work in the future.
5. Keep your followers engaged
Find ways to keep your audience interested in seeing, liking, and sharing your posts. You can do this just by posting on a regular basis, but finding a way to involve your followers in your posts is even better. You may want to try a give-away; sign a print of your work, then make a post with a contest where that print is the prize. Come up with a unique hashtag and have your followers re-post your original contest post, and you’ve basically set up an advertisement for yourself and your work that others will gladly re-post for you in the hopes of winning.
